Natural Air Freshener

Air fresheners have been a hotly debated for decades.  Ever since 1974 when their detriments were discovered there has been discourse over the pros and cons of air fresheners on the environment and the public's health.  Aerosol air fresheners first came out in 1956, and there was a nearly 20 year solace that surrounded the use of air fresheners.  They were initially a novel idea; an easy way to mask foul odors that might accompany stale air or a burnt meal.

Needless to say, people were shocked when in 1974 it was discovered that air fresheners had actually been harming the environment for the entirety of their existence.  It was discovered that the chlorofluorocarbons that were used to project the air freshener could actually destroy the molecules that make up the ozone layer.  Air fresheners were actually leading to the depletion of the ozone layer, and increasing everybody's exposure to ultraviolet light.  Ultraviolet light is what frequently causes sun burns, and it can cause incredible damage to the skin.  Ultraviolet light is also commonly the culprit in skin cancer.

Many of today's air fresheners have stopped using chlorofluorocarbons, but unfortunately more harmful chemicals have been identified in many air fresheners.  Some of these chemicals include volatile organic compounds.  There is fear that these volatile organic compounds could damage the ground water, so it is important that everybody avoids chemical-packed air fresheners.  Research is still needed to see how volatile organic compounds affect humans, but some government agencies have recommended that people avoid these chemicals.

It can be hard to identify exactly what chemicals can be found in air fresheners, because the producers of air fresheners don't have to disclose the ingredients in their scent formulas.  This means that there could potentially be even more environmentally-harmful chemicals that we're all distributing throughout the globe.

One of the few trustworthy air fresheners is Orange Mate Mist.  The simplicity of the bottle mimics the simplicity of its formula in this natural air freshener.  In fact, under the ingredients section of the bottle the following is stated, "Pure, natural orange oils and concentrated orange essence, taken from fresh, naturally grown oranges."  Orange Mate Mist stresses the fact that this is an all-natural air freshener, and the fact that there are no man-made chemicals.

Today many of us try to take every step we can to protect the environment.  One of the easiest ways to help is by switching to an air freshener that is all natural and chemical free.  Orange Mate Mist uses only natural ingredients, but that doesn't mean that it's ineffective.  Orange Mate Mist can help to get rid of even the most awful smells.
